Comparing Political Skills in terms of Personality Types: A Research on Students in Individual or Team Sports

Abstract

This research aims to determine the relationships between personality traits and political behaviors of student-athletes who engage in team sports and individual sports in terms of some descriptive variables. 362 students studying in schools of physical education and sports of Sakarya University, Marmara University, Kocaeli University and Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University in Turkey constitute the sample group of the research. Data was analyzed through the use of SPSS 15.0 software package. In conclusion of the research, some partial differences were found between political behaviors and personality traits of student-athletes who engage in team sports or individual sports. While political behavior of student-athletes do not differ according to engaging in individual and team sports, age, class types and departments which they study, it will differ according to the variable of gender.
